The history of Mario Fongo is tied to the small village of Rocchetta Tanaro, in the province of Asti, Piemonte, where, in 1945 the first village oven was inaugurated. It was then that the Fongo family's long love affair with traditional Italian baking first started.
Grissini are one of the most well-known products of Piedmont baking, and Mario Fongo developed their own interpretation in the form of these hand-rolled grissini stirati. Each individual breadstick is rolled, one by one, taking the time that would have been considered the norm generations ago but in many cases today would be carried out by machine. The end result is a deliciously crunchy grissino, made using only the best quality flours and 100% Italian extra virgin oil.
